This documentary film is a personal reckoning that both references and engages a familial connection to the crack epidemic. It is at once an intimate character study of the filmmaker Rei Lorin’s maternal aunt Shawn Morris, who maintains an ongoing struggle with addiction, and an interrogation of a public health crisis that has overwhelmingly impacted Black American communities since the 1980s.
